Criteria for the future of the Lido
BLU's criteria for assessing proposals for running the Lido were discussed at our meeting of 5 October 2002.
See here for details. The fundamental criteria governing BLU's activity are given below.
BLU wants any proposal for the future of the Lido to meet the following criteria:
- Retain an open-air swimming pool with at least the present opening hours and season.
- Retain and expand the existing community use, with health and learning activities like yoga, whippersnappers, meditation.
- It should be in keeping with the park and local neighbourhood.
- There should be community representation in future management of the Lido.
- Any plan must provide for the long-term sustainability of the Lido.
- The Lido should offer an ambiance and balance of activities suitable for those of all ages, gender,
diverse cultural backgrounds and life styles.
These criteria are based on 873 responses to BLU's questionnaire. They were agreed by a public meeting on 19 January 2002
with approximately 100 attendees.
