• Lindsay Avebury, Liberal Democrat candidate for Coldharbour Ward e-mailed saying:
  I am a swimmer myself and have swum in Brockwell Lido. .... I am utterly committed to keeping the Lido open as a community facility. And I certainly believe that the Lido should have a subsidy from Lambeth.



• Paul Bakalite, Green Party candidate for Coldharbour Ward e-mailed to say he knows and loves the Lido. He answered 'yes' to our two questions on keeping the Lido open and subsidising swimming.



• Darren Iliffe, Gary Bruton and Robin Gibson, Independent candidates for Coldharbour Ward e-mailed to say:
  We believe that Brockwell Lido is a unique and important community facility in Lambeth which should receive the same financial support from the Council that other Lambeth pools enjoy.



• Mohammed Sajid, Green Party candidate for Coldharbour Ward rang to say that he grew up near Brockwell Park and considers the Lido to be an important part of the park. He would very much like to see it remain a community resource and offers support.



• Jeremy Baker, Liberal Democrat candidate for Knight's Hill Ward e-mailed to say:
  I consider the Lido to be a great asset to the community and very much support your campaign to keep it open - preferably as an open air facility.



• Kevin Craig, Labour Party councillor and candidate for Larkhall Ward rang to say that he supports the Lido, wants it to remain open and is in principle committed to Lambeth offering further financial support.



• John Pindar, Liberal Democrat candidate for Thornton Ward e-mailed saying:
  I do value Brockwell Park as a great assset to our borough. I agree that the Lido deserves the support of the local council and I would answer 'yes' to your two questions posed at the end of your letter.



• Judith Brodie, Labour Party councillor and candidate for Thurlow Park Ward e-mailed to say:
  I am completely committed to keeping the Lido open as a community facility, as is the Council. I feel that the Council should work with the community and Brockwell Lido users, as it is doing, to ensure a sustainable, long-term and thriving future for the Lido.

  ...I, along with the other Green candidates, am an enthusiastic supporter of the Lido. ....The Lido's restoration is a wonderful achievement that pays eloquent tribute to the resoucefulness and community spirit of local people. It is an amenity that helps to make Brixton and Brockwell Park unique. The Green Party is committed to local economies, and the Lido is an integral part of ours. We call on Lambeth council to support it and resource it properly, as we would do if elected.



• Robin Lambert, United Kingdom Independent Party candidate for Thurlow Park Ward rang to say that he supports the Lido.



• Clare Whelan, John Whelan and Irene Kimm, Conservative Party candidates for Thurlow Park Ward e-mailed saying:
  We have no hesitation whatsoever in pledging our continued support for the Lido which, as you say in your letter, is a wonderful local facility. John Whelan and I [Clare Whelan] as the current councillors for Thurlow Park, have always pressed for Lambeth Council to ensure that the Lido is propertly supported and funded to ensure that all who wish to can enjoy the Lido's facilities.

  I fully support you in your attempts to keep the Lido open and as a community facility. .... I am personally committed to keeping the Lido open as a community facility. .... I would agree with you that swimming at the Lido should have a subsidy from Lambeth council.



• Brenda Downes, Socialist Alliance candidate for Vassall Ward rang to find out more about the Lido and BLU. She remembers the good times she had in her local Lido---now gone---and supports our efforts to ensure that Brockwell Lido has a future. She added that all Socialist Alliance Candidates in Lambeth answer yes to both questions in the letter.
